Description of Meyes
Meyes is like a computer mouse, but instead of having a mouse it's a webcam that tracks the movement of your eyes to replicate the functions of a computer mouse on the screen. It moves to where the eyes look. Voice command technology would be used for the user to select things in their device.
It is important for people to understand that there is lots of research done on eye-tracking technology and existing products.
Tobii and their eye-tracking technology is one of the products we used as inspiration for our technology. The difference between our product and theirs is that Tobii is used as an aid for gaming. Their website markets the eye tracker as a way to improve a user's experience when playing video games. Our innovation on the other hand, is meant to help the user be able to use the computer in general, not just gaming. Inspiration
Other similar technology was made by the Not Impossible foundation. It also uses eye-tracking technology and it was made especially for Don Moir, a man who was paralyzed and lost his ability to speak. The innovation gave him a way to speak again by letting him pick letters with his eyes and the computer reads whatever he types in the middle of the screen out loud. This application's purpose is to restore his ability to communicate with others. There is plenty of differences between our innovations but we certainly took some inspiration from this innovation.
